The temple of the grail

An edited reprint of Giulio Cogni’s book, Richard Wagners Raumvision für die Gralshalle (Richard Wagner’s vision of the hall of the Grail) in the Parsifal Heft of Bayreuther-Festspiele (1968). Wagner modelled his plan for the Grail temple on the Siena cathedral, because its almost oriental structure and its complex succession of halls, sanctuaries, chapels, and cloisters seemed to correspond with the complex movement in space and time characteristic of the Parsifal score.
