Associate Professor of Musicology at McGill University, her wide-ranging research interests extend from western art music to topics in postcolonial and cultural studies. Past and current projects focus on the Schumann family, nineteenth-century German culture, and music colonialism in global history, including imperial music educational systems and decolonising pedagogies. Her work has been published by major book presses and journals, and funded by Canadian, British, and German research grant agencies. She has presented at numerous conferences and invited colloquia, and spoken on BBC Radio 4, The New York Times, and WQXR New York Classical Radio Station.
