Paganini’s concertos within early 19th-century Italian instrumental music

An outline of the musical-historical life of 19th-c. Italy, with particular attention to the reorganization of the orchestra and revamping of musical instruction, introduces a study of Paganini’s concertos. Their relationship to the Classic style and the emerging Romantic virtuoso style are considered.
