Boieldieu and Méhul: Classical echoes and Romantic presages in the French instrumental music of the early 19th century

 Analyzes the instrumental output of François Adrien Boieldieu and Étienne Nicholas Méhul in order to show the links between 18th- and 19th-c. musical tradition. Echoes of Classicism and anticipations of Romanticism come to light in the sonatas for pianoforte and/or harp and the solo concertos of Boieldieu and in the four orchestral symphonies of Méhul.
