Jessica Stearns is currently pursuing a PhD in musicology with a minor in art history at the University of North Texas. Jessica’s research dissertation explores Christian Wolff’s notation and its context in the milieu of the New York School. Her work has been funded by grants and fellowships from the University of North Texas, the Music Library Association, and the New York Public Library. Jessica’s research interests include music of the twentieth- and twenty-first century, American music, notation, performance spaces, and sound studies. While completing her PhD, Jessica has remained active as a saxophonist performing in experimental music groups.
