Paolo Prato received his National Scientific Qualification in 2017 as Associate Professor of Ethnomusicology. He teaches “Italian Media and Popular Culture” at the John Cabot University. He has taught courses at the Pontifical Gregorian University, LUISS, Università La Sapienza, Università Cattolica, and Pontifical Lateran University. He is International Advisor of the Bloomsbury Encyclopedia of Popular Music of the World for which he edited the volume Genres: Europe (2017). He is one of the founding members of Portale della Canzone Italiana (Ministry of Culture) and is on the editorial board of Musica / Realtà and Popular Music History. His interests focus on popular music history, music sociology, transnational music markets. Among his books, La musica italiana.
