The two laments of Arianna by Claudio Monteverdi

Reconstructs the chronology of Monteverdi’s Arianna. Compares the monodic Lamento d’Arianna from the opera with the subsequent five-voiced madrigal version. In this case, the historical evolution of musical style has been reversed.
