Arrigo il Tedesco (Heinrich Isaac), Florentine musician
Stress is placed on the compositions that have vernacular texts, which in all probability belong to Isaac’s long periods of residence in Florence. Of special relevance to certain instrumental ‘chansons’ and to the canti carnascialeschi are several commemorative and laudatory motets and the entire secular production of the canzoni a ballo. Isaac was both a musician of international training and a representative of the musical culture of Renaissance Italy.
